Αμέτρητα σκουλήκια με… περίεργο σχήμα ξεβράστηκαν σε παραλία

Δεν μπορούσαν να πιστέψουν στα μάτια τους όσοι επισκέφτηκαν πριν λίγες μέρες παραλία που βρίσκεται περίπου 80χλμ. βόρεια του Σαν Φρανσίσκο και είχε γεμίσει με κάποια… περίεργα σκουλήκια.

Σύμφωνα με το περιοδικό Bay Nature, πρόκειται για θαλάσσια σκουλήκια τα οποία επιστημονικά αποκαλούνται «fat innkeeper worms».

Συνήθως είναι θαμμένα αρκετά βαθιά μέσα στην άμμο, παρόλα αυτά οι πρόσφατες καταιγίδες στην Καλιφόρνια τα παρέσυραν, με αποτέλεσμα να βγουν στην επιφάνεια.

SHOOK ? Thousands of these marine worms—called fat innkeeper worms, or “penis fish”—were found on Drake’s Beach last week! These phallic organisms are quite common along the West coast of North America, but they spend their whole lives in U-shaped burrows under the sand, so few beachgoers are aware of their existence. ⛈?
